Counsel having acted before the High Courts and the Supreme Court in several landmark constitutional matters, including the 18th and 21st Constitutional Amendment matter heard by the full bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Counsel advise on share transfer, share issuance, rights issue, corporate compliance matters and regulation, particularly with regard to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. Counsel also act for foreign entities seeking to establish a branch or liaison office in Pakistan.

The practice extensively advises clients seeking assistance on commercial matters, including structuring of investment schemes, joint venture arrangements, international transactions, vendor supply contracts, corporate due diligence, insurance, mergers and acquisitions in addition to various major and minor contracts and documents.

Public Procurement

Counsel frequently advise and act on procurement matters both at the Federal and Provincial level. Counsel in particular advice on legality of bidding procedure and remedies available to bidders aggrieved at any stage of the bidding process. Counsel have provided extensive advise with respect to certain matters arising from major public procurements which formed the subject of proceedings before the Supreme Court and certain international arbitral tribunals. Counsel have provided advice to the Ministries of Water and Power, Finance and Petroleum in this connection, in addition to the National Accountability Bureau. Counsel also frequently appear before the Honorable High Court in connection with procurement disputes.

Lead counsel of the practice has been extensively involved with arbitrations especially international arbitrations held before various international organizations including the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, International Chamber of Commerce and the London Court of International Arbitration with hearings at London and Zurich. The practice advises on various aspects of property and real estate including preparation and execution of agreements to sell and sale deeds, registration procedures, processes before different fora including Lahore Development Authority, Faisalabad Development Authority, Lahore Cantonment Board, Defence Housing Authority Lahore, Co – operative Housing Societies and relevant registrars and sub registrars.

The practice also advises on various rental and lease agreements, including long term and short term, along with all attending legal advice and assistance.

The practice advises on service and employment matters including on behalf of individuals in Federal and Provincial Civil Service, employed by the public sector on contract basis, ad hoc employees and employees in the private sector. Counsel have been engaged before the High Courts with regard to several service matters including in particular in relation to the wrongful termination of the Managing Director of a major provincial public sector organization and a category of police officers concerning their promotion and appointment.

The practice advises on tax matters, particularly in the context of trade and business. The practice is on the panel of and regularly advises the Punjab Revenue Authority and remains engaged before the High Court and other tribunals with matters relating to tax on services amongst others.

The Counsel also act and advise on matters relating to medical negligence and statutory compliance. After the establishment of the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC), counsel appear before the PHC and the High Courts in connection with matters relating to medical negligence and other statutory non – compliance.
